Sandra Frank was a lecturer in the Photo Department at San Jose State University from January 2000-December 2018. Her classes included upper division instruction including: Intro to Studio Lighting, Product Photography, Photo Illustration and Professional Practices in Photography. Frank also teaches at several community colleges in the Bay Area with classes ranging from Beginning Photography through Studio Lighting. Her teaching experience also includes women’s photography workshops at Ghost Ranch in New Mexico.
She has a BA in Cinema and Photography with a minor in Advertising from Southern Illinois University and an MFA from San Jose State University.
In addition to teaching, Frank has also maintained a thriving commercial photography business throughout the Bay Area for over 20 years. Clients include many Silicon Valley icons including Hewlett Packard, IBM, Oracle, Sun Microsystems, Visa, etc.
Her personal work is in the Polaroid Permanent Collection in addition to several private collections. She is represented nationally by Art Press and has exhibited her work internationally in London and Canada as well as throughout the US.
Franks’ work has been featured in Camera Arts Magazine, and Communication Arts Magazine as well as having placed 1st at the Sausalito Art Festival for photography and received several awards for various professional projects from Western Art Directors Club.
