Mimi Plumb – Nature Studies

Faculty member Mimi Plumb is having a show at the Local 123 Gallery up in in Berkeley. The show will feature large scale photographs from her series “Their Backs”. Fellow photographer Susan Felter’s work will also be shown.

Void – ATC MFA

Master student Sieglinde Van Damme is having her Advancement to Candidacy this week. It will be in the Black Gallery October 31st to November 3rd so be sure to check it out.

The Missing Peace – Artist Lecture

Alumnus Binh Danh and Renee Billingslea will be discussing conveying the message of peace with photography at Santa Clara University’s de Saisset Museum. The talk will take place on Thursday, October 27th from 7 – 8:30pm and its free to the public. Be sure to also check show itself which features from Binh Danh, Richard Avedon, Chuck Close, and Mike and Doug Starn.

21st Century Substance – BFA Show

Ryan Kalem will be graduating this semseter with a BFA this semsester and this will be his final show at SJSU. The reception will be October 25th at 6pm and the exhibition will run from October 24th – 27th in Gallery 3 of the Art Building.

San Francisco First Thursdays

Since 1993, galleries in downtown San Francisco have opened their doors to the public every first Thursday of the month. Most of this gallery crawl is located at the famed 49 Geary Street but there are also other galleries spead out along the Market Street area. We will keep you updated on the shows happening at each galleries during First Thursdays. The next First Thursday is coming up soon, so mark your calendars for November 3rd.

Abstractions – BFA Show

Brittany Rediger is having her BFA show in Gallery 8 next week. The show will be up October 24th – 28th, with an opening reception on October 25th, 6 – 8pm. The images from the show consist of abstract texture images all photographed exclusively in California in the past year.

Georgia: Refugees of Abkhazia by Jennifer Lemper

Neighbors at the Regional Hospital, Jennifer Lemper

Jennifer Lemper (BFA ’05) currently has a show at the Word Affairs Council of Northern California. Almost a decade after end the Georgian Civil War, Lemper traveled to Abkhazia and documented the people who had fled the ethnic strife. The opening reception will be on Thursday, October 20th at 6pm.
